Brainstorming ideas!
Once i was given the questions and I choose 'Story Telling' I decided to do a
mind map of different ideas that I could look fearther into, I have decided to go down the path of fairy tale as i think there is more variation of ideas to do as there are endless amounts of stories and they can all be depicted in a diffrent way. I think that story telling could have also gone into nature a little like the story of the growth/blossoming of a flower or tree from winter through spring or in other ways. overall i think i made the right choice by chooseing story tale and i already have some inspiration and ideas to develope. |
To start I am going to look into a variety of landscape photographers mainly revolving around capturing woodland photography. I am also going to look into a style of photography called 'Colour Splash'. I want to mainly show the prescense of people without people being in the photographs; i am going to look at how diffrent photographers have captured this, if any have. I will also be looking into fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm to represent the stories in the photographs.
I have 2 ideas for my final piece but i think i favour the second idea. The first is to do a series of photographs on a choosen fairy tale for example Little Red Riding-Hood, but put a twist on it so that its the other way around and and little Red Riding-Hood is the wolf. This would have been shown through the photos as red riding hood walking but as she goes the cap slowly falls off backwards, revealing the wolf. The second idea is a series of photographs but each photograph shows a different story but there are no people just the idea they were there by the objects in the photographs.

Kilian Schoenberger
Kilian Schoenberger is a german photographer who has taken a variey of landscape photographs which i have been looking at. I think I will focus on two diffrent areas of his work under into the woods, subheading "woodland" and "dark avenue". I really like the "dark avenue" photographs as they really show another side to the woods like a twisted unknown. I think that it is really inspirational and i think dpepnding on how a photoshoot in the style of his work goes I would like to work in his style to photograph my final peice. I think that by using his style of photography in the mist in the woods it will make the photographs seem more dark like the sories i am basing the photograph on. After looking through his photography his work has really inspired me, maybe thats because most of his photographs give off a joyfull/happy emotions.

Colour splash
This style of editing is often done on photo editing software such as Photoshop to finish of a photograph. I decided to use a variety of photographs which i had previously taken to edit them in Photoshop in the style of colour splash, below is an example of colour splash from an unknown photographer.
Overall this photograph is my favourite as the facial expressions mixed with the rest of the photograph in black and white makes him look wolf like. I think that the yellow eyes look ok but I'm not sure if they are too bright and need to be faded a bit more, however on the other hand the yellow eyes stand out and catch your attention straight away which is the objective of colour splash.

This is my seconf favourite image that i have edited, i really like this image as the berries are really vibrant. To me they display determination and love for life as they have struggles through the cold weather and stand out in all there might. I think if something so small can struggle through the cold and still be strong and bold then us as people should power through hard times to try and come out on top.

The presence of people
